Artwork Guidelines – Business Card, Envelope, Flyer & More

Use this artwork guide before you upload files to 55printing.com. Following these specs cuts proof revisions, prevents blurry logos, and keeps text from getting trimmed at the cutter.

Core file rules (every product)

  • Resolution: 300 dpi at final print size for photos and raster logos.
  • Color: Build in CMYK for press color. Convert RGB exports before upload when possible.
  • Bleed: Extend backgrounds 0.125″ (1/8″) past each trim edge on full-bleed jobs.
  • Safe zone: Keep names, phones, and QR codes at least 0.125″ inside the trim line.
  • Fonts: Embed or outline fonts in PDFs so nothing substitutes on press.
  • Preferred format: Print-ready PDF (PDF/X-1a or high-quality PDF). JPG/TIFF/PNG accepted when sized correctly.

Business cards

Standard finished size is 3.5″ × 2″. With bleed, build the document at 3.75″ × 2.25″. Keep critical text inside 3.375″ × 1.875″. Rounded-corner and specialty shapes still need the same bleed and safe zone on the rectangular artboard unless a die-line template says otherwise.

Envelopes

Leave the flap and window areas clear of heavy ink unless your template marks them as printable. Address blocks need high contrast. Download the matching envelope guideline from our guideline templates library before designing.

Flyers and postcards

Match the exact flat size you will order (for example 8.5″ × 11″ or 4″ × 6″). EDDM pieces must follow USPS size and thickness rules. Use our EDDM product defaults and templates when mailing Every Door Direct Mail.

Brochures and multi-page

Supply pages in reading order as a single PDF. Allow for fold creep on thicker stocks. Panel widths on tri-folds are not always equal. Use a product-specific fold template when available.
